Alien Races

Alien Races within the Star Seeker Universe are divided by categories based on the Bera Technological Scale (BTS) into the "haves" and "have nots." These are further divided into the Interstellar Community, the Stellar Community and the Non-Stellar Community. The BTS is frequently used in combination with the Namaan Political Scale (NPS) in CSS planetary surveys.

"The Haves" Upper Tier: Interstellar Community

[2] Category 0 (Superior Interstellar) Cutting Edge (advance technology)

[3] Category 1 (High Interstellar) The Independents (Build and maintain ships)

Races who travel the stars using their own technology; building and maintaining their own ships. Discovered FTL      independently or have adapted other's technology with full competence in construction, design and maintenance.

[4] Catergory 2 (Medium Interstellar) The Co-Dependents (maintain ships)

Races or planets that travel the stars using technology built by other races, although they can maintain them on       their own.

[5] Category 3 (Low Interstellar 3) The Dependents (hire ships)

Races or planets that hire crews and technology built by other races for interstellar travel and trade.

"The Have Nots" Middle Tier: Stellar Community

  [6] Category 4 (High Stellar)

Races that travel only within their own solar or binary system. Not part of the interstellar community at large.

  [7] Category 5 (Medium Stellar)

Races that travel only far as planetary or adjacent satellite orbit. Not part of the interstellar community at large.

  [8] Category 6 (Low Stellar)

Races that have achieved planetary orbit only. Not part of the interstellar community at large.

"The Have Nots" Lower Tier: Non-Stellar Community.

  [9] Category 7 (Superior Planetary)

Races with manned flight without knowledge of the interstellar community at large.

  [10-A] Category 8 (High Planetary)

Races with no flight, but with intercontinental travel/trade by sea without knowledge of the interstellar community      at large.

  [11-B] Category 9 (Medium Planetary)

Races with no flight, but continental travel without knowledge of the interstellar community at large.

  [12-C] Category 10 (Low Planetary)

Races of aboriginal nature: hunter gatherers or nomads functioning as tribes or city states without knowledge of

  the interstellar community at large.

  [13-D] Category 11 (Sub Planetary)

  No known sophont habitation

  [14-E] Category 12 (Unique Planetary)

A circumstance beyond the Bera Scale’s definitions.
